Valentine’s Day

Some people love and embrace Valentine’s Day; others despise Valentine’s Day as a made-up holiday designed to get you to spend more money. What do you think? I actually see both sides of the issue. I can see that Valentine’s Day is a great day to pay a little more attention to your sweetie to let them know how you feel. In my mind this doesn’t have to cost a lot (or anything). I see nothing wrong with having a day devoted to your special someone.

On the other hand, advertisers do seem to push their wares especially hard around this day. They try to convince you that the only way to actually prove your love is to give your sweetheart this diamond, or that car, or this bouquet, or whatever it is they are selling. It is pretty easy to become cynical about all this.

My bottom line is that I don’t need gifts or cards or flowers to know that I am loved. Getting roses or a card doesn’t bother me, but it is not necessary.

I hope that my sweetheart sees every day of the year how much he is loved. I know that he loves me all the time, because he shows it.

So, do you love it, hate it, or are you somewhere in between?
