New Inspiring Morning Routine

I have a fairly new morning routine, and this morning it hit me – I really LIKE it! You see, I gave up the daily paper a couple months ago.  I have been reading the daily paper every morning since the local paper went to a morning edition, which would be more years than I care to remember.  I used to get up, eat some breakfast and make a cup of coffee or tea, read the paper and do the puzzles.  Yes, I like the puzzles – the Sudoku and both crosswords.

Then I realized a couple things.  The first was I realized exactly how much money I was spending every year – ouch!  I could buy puzzle books and still get my mental fix for cheaper.  The second was that starting each day with a lot of bad news was not setting me up for good things.  Maybe I had a higher tolerance for this in earlier years, but it sure seemed to be affecting me more than it used to.  Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t advocate ignoring what is going on in the world (though if it works for you – go for it!)  I like to know what’s happening out there, so I still watch the news (though I recently figured out that if I don’t watch all the available new every night, the world does still turn!) And if I am on the Internet, I may stop and check to see what’s going on.  But I do NOT start my day with it.

I have a new and totally uplifting way to start my days now.  I have discovered the way that I want to use social networking.  On my Facebook business page I now have a lot of Favorites that I thoroughly enjoy reading in the morning.  They post uplifting, thoughtful, funny things that I love to start my day with.  In an earlier post I had listed several of them.  My collection has gotten bigger since then.  I have to say that happiness and joy beget more happiness and joy, and every day I find more great pages through the great pages I have already found.

My collection grows every day, and every day I am in gratitude for the wonderful things I find through them.  I wish I could list them all here, but there are just too many.  I invite you to go to my Facebook page Singing Heart to find and check out my Favorites.  Read them and ‘Like’ them,  and get inspiration from them.  And let me know who you find that really speaks to you!

  • I have given up so much news myself. It was getting me down, so I too limit my news intake.
A positive start to your day is a great way to begin. I will follow what this does for you and your business.
    Cheers!

  • I agree that watching/reading all the horror stories in the world each day does nothing good for one’s outlook. You can’t ignore it but you don’t have to feed on it. Concentrating instead on loving people, making life better and being content is a much better practice.

Yes, I can’t ignore what’s going on in the world, nor do I want to. But I can be at choice about when and how I bring myself up to date. And I choose to start my days differently!

      Thanks for the comments.
