Do I want to know, or do I want to be in the dark?

These days I can’t decide if I want to be an informed citizen or I want to be kept in the dark. Of course, I really do want to be informed, but I sometimes have a hard time digesting everything that is going on in our country right now.

I am absolutely flabbergasted at how many people there are in our country who refuse to either learn about our history, or choose to ignore it. I am appalled at how many people think it is okay to just rearrange the facts of the past into something that is more in keeping with what they want to believe than close to the truth. It amazes me that people think if they keep saying something is true, that makes it true.

Of course, they are just following the lead of the man they put in the White House – the man who doesn’t seem to have a clue of what is really going on in the world, or the effect we have on the world. He doesn’t understand what is going on, and seems to have no curiosity that would allow him to find out.  He doesn’t seem to care about the people in this country – even the ones who voted for him. His big goal in life seems to be to undo anything and everything that was done by Obama, regardless of how that affects anyone.

By the time this is posted, Manafort’s indictment will be a little over a week old. It will be interesting to see what this White House does now. My bet is that they will be distancing themselves from Manafort, pretending that they barely knew him and that he did not play a very big role in the campaign or election.

All I can say is buckle up. I think going forward it is going to be an even bumpier ride than it is now. Good luck to all of us. I will see you at the end – and I hope that we are still in one piece and haven’t been nuked off the face of the earth when it’s over.
